Getting back into it

Postby gymnastgirly » Tue Feb 22, 2011 11:24 pm

I kind of vanished for a few months from here - I wasn't running much, so I was feeling guilty when I logged in, which led to not coming here, etc etc.

I hurt my back again in December (I have ongoing issues with it) and that led me to stopping for a few weeks, and I've only really been running off and on since. But I have a half marathon on May 1st. And I have committed to myself that I am getting back on track for training and running. I may not really make any time goals now for the race, but I am going to finish.

On that note, I did 4 miles tonight, but about 1.5 of that was walking - I went to an indoor track at a local pool, and the humidity & my asthma didn't play nice together, but I got out, and did it. The treadmill at the office and I have a date tomorrow at lunch too.

So I'll be back here more often to keep myself motivated...feel free to yell at me if I'm not posting about running lots :D

2011 plans
Resolution Run - 48 min (walked...it was COLD!)
WPS Half Marathon - DNF, 1:20ish at 10.75km
Fargo 5K & 10K - 5K walked 48 something. 10K 1:13:55
Try a Trail series
And others TBD...

welcome back!

lots of us end up with down time (either from injuries or other life stuff) but you are always welcome here even if you aren't currently running! :)

Yes, welcome back! I, too am battling back issues right now and can totally sympathize. Your efforts are great--be sensible as you work your way back to regular running. (And I'll try to do the same  )

Thanks guys!

It was more my own personal guilt...I know I would be welcome here, but it was my conscience reminding me that I needed to get running again every time I thought of the forum.

I've now put my RM buff hanging over the unused small towel holder in my bathroom so that it reminds me every morning to get out for a run!! :D

Were you always known as 'gymnastgirly'? For some reason I always read your user name as "gymnastygirl."

Yup, always. But you're not the only one that reads it that way...my first M&G there was some laughter about how they read my name  And this isn't the only forum that I've had people think that...wonder if I need a new name!!
