Asking for positive vibes

Postby lovethehills » Thu Mar 25, 2010 8:20 am

Jordan's wife Jill is a friend of mine, please send all of your positive vibes their way. He is such a great guy who has started to use his success to give back to the cycling community. he lost a lot of blood and is on a ventliator as a precaution. Sadly this was one of his last workouts leading to California 70.3 this weekend.

A couple of takeaways from this:

- always let people know when to expect you home. (Jill called the police when he wasn't back)
- even if you are a super experienced cyclist, you need to always be aware of your surroundings.
- Anything can happen, anytime.

Stay safe.

There but for the grace of God...

Thoughts go out there for Jordan (and Jill) for a swift and full recovery; this has been all over Slowtwitch where Jordan is a regular contributor.

Car/bike accidents are bad news any day, but hit-and-run is particularly heinous. Hope he heals up soon!

I saw this yesterday via a friend of Jordan's as well - and at our spin last night, our coach mentioned it as well - along with the reminder of wearing bright colors when out on the road (esp for us just getting out there for the first few times of the season).

Sending very positive vibes and a wishing him a very speedy recovery.

Sending some vibes from here. The ones I got for my surgery this month helped quite a bit, so hoping the same for them.

Saw this posted by Kevin Mackinnon on Ironman.com
Jordan Rapp, last year's winner of Ford Ironman Arizona and Subaru Ironman Canada, was seriously injured in a bike accident on Tuesday. Rapp's wife, Jill Savege, reported on Twitter earlier this morning that "@rappstar is on the mend, still sedated, but communicating via nods and squeezes, prognosis is good for a full recovery., lots of injuries!"

All of us at Ironman send our best wishes, thoughts and prayers to Jordan, his family and friends.

More positive news today. They removed the breathing tube and Jordan has been able to open his eyes as the swelling has gone down slightly. He & Jill are still communicating via hand squeezes, but every day is slighlly better. He hasn't lost his sense of humour - first thing he asked Jill for was his camera so he'd be able to see how he looked!!

Thanks so much for your thoughts.

Posted on Slowtwitch; Jordan seems to be [slowly] on the mend;

Posting from my phone in the middle of the night (your circadian rhythms get out of whack in here), but just a quick note to say thank you to everyone for all the wonderful anfd positive messages. Food here is ok. No bacon yet. Counting the days! Just thankful I can eat, even if just via straw right now. Thanks again for all the support.

Also, today's Twitter:

"Taking some time with my beautiful wife @jsavege to be thankful to just be alive. Thank you to everyone for the wonderful messages"

It's awesome to see how far he is coming along. Any word on the person who hit him?

Also from Slowtwitch:

The CHP is fairly confident they know his identity. apparerently, so i'm hearing thirdhand, he failed to come to work at the strawberry farm the day after the accident. his attendance was unexpectedly required back in mexico. left wife and child here stateside.

Of course heresay, but seems plausible based on circumstances and location of accident.

Out of hospital with surgically repaired collar bone and jugular veins. More surgury still to come but on the mend, no permanent damage. 2010 season likely written off, though just a small chance he could make Kona.
