The short story:

2005 – my very first duathlon. No real time goal other than to finish in 90 minutes.
Actual: 1:24:29 Unfortunately, this was before I really started tracking any of my times, so all I have is my first split for the 2K run (10:02)

2006 – Again, no real time goal (secretly hoping to beat 1:24:29 though)
Actual: 1:37:32. The first 2K were run in 12:09
Bike: average speed 27.08K/hour, and maximum speed 33.5K/hour (47:07 with both transitions) Total distance: 20.89K
Final 5K run: 37.17… WAY TOO MUCH WALKING…

No “official times” yet, but I think it was 1:37:32 13 minutes slower than last year, but the rain made me cautious on the bike, my soggy shoes & socks probably weighed about 10 pounds by the end of the second run, and the Hammer Gel that I had in T2 did not sit well. Pat was out there strong on all 3 legs & got her revenge for the fact that I finished a few seconds ahead of her last year – she probably had 6-8 minutes on me…

Highlight of the day – MY FIRST PODIUM FINISH! Yes, even after all that I placed second in my age category… (people don’t have to know that there were only 2 in the age category in my opinion!) My first*, silver medal!

* - don’t expect this to be happening on a regular basis people!

Too much fun - although no wetsuits, does this make us Bond Girls if we are soaked to the skin?
