Very impressive, Dave. It sounds like you're really building off of the experience of the racing now.

Now I'll be anxious to see what you can do when you finish the training and lose the weight you gained (which doesn't show at all-- are you sure the scale is right?). You will be a 3:20 marathoner when you do.

At first I read "Dgrant's PECS" and thought, "Oh no, not another one of THOSE threads!".

Dave, that was a great race report; you've got a good head on your shoulders, man. You'll meet all your goals eventually, and you obviously know where to find your inspiration. I'm always impressed by your results and you're a stellar example of what makes RM a great community. Congratulations on a great PB!

Well done Dave - 3:20 is a tough goal. Some goals are smashed and some are chipped away at. You'll get it - no doubt about it. Congratulations.

Dave,

I'm with Jo-Jo....you are definitely quotable! And Lisa is too cute for words...and I haven't even met her in person yet. LOL

Anyway, you not only ran a fast race...and continue to train smart and get faster, but you continually use your races, and your finishes as a learning tool for getting faster. That's what its all about, man!

There is a BQ with your name on it! Continue to train smart over the winter and you'll find it waiting for you.

In the meantime, enjoy the wine, chips and fro-yo while you can.

Well done!

Congrats on a HUGE PB Dave! You WILL be a 3:20 marathoner one day - you WILL! Until then, just keep learning and enjoying the ride.

Way to GO! Be Proud.

Cheers!

Look at your running log and remember that all the results are pointing in the right direction. You better be damn proud of this race or sistah Marg is coming down there to have a chat with you.

Outstanding racing Dave, so how hard were you thinking last night of the next race to offload spud at?

You are the glue of this community and we love you for it.

Way to go Dave!
This is another step in that journey, and that 3:20 will come, and i suspect sooner rather than later!

Wouldn't it be cool if you and Lisa both qualified for Boston for the same year :)

Nice work and congrats.

Funny, I gained some weight and got slower. Some people have all the luck.

Hey, Slim... you had a great race and seem to have it all in perspective. I think it's OK to feel a little disappointed with your result because that means you still think you can improve (and want to improve)! But don't forget to celebrate your accomplishment, too!

To offer another perspective, you didn't "fail" - you achieved a result. It was not the result you hoped for, but it was the result you were able to deliver on the day.

As always, a pleasure to be in your company. Thanks to you and Lisa for the lift.

Sorry you didn't make it all the way Dave, but breaking 3:30 is a big step. You will break 3:20 soon!

You got that right sista! You and Lisa better take Spud or P2 out and show him the town....me thinks he'd be a great addition to your wedding party....

Congratulations on a great PB - your 3:20 will come. I know it will - you and my DH should shallonge the next time (his best marathon is 3:25 and you have the same qualifying time....)
