Last after my fall race I spent about a month training on a hilly 10k route. Result: 1:05:08

This year after my fall race I spent a month eating chips and chocolate and running occasionally: 1:07:57 (by my Garmin) The goal today was not to slip and fall. I achieved that goal :)

Conditions were pretty good for a mid December race. There were a few slippy spots, but overall an enjoyable run.

Good to see everyone out there. Here's the elevation chart. About the 6k point is where people start saying "it's all downhill to the end". I think that big hill makes them delusional.

I'm glad you had a good race, BJH. :)

Net elevation change of 100m over 4K? Is that right?

great. i knew it was a mountain and not a hill (all about the scale) :D

no way it's downhill after 6km. rollers until the last 800m which is downhill and your chart shows it perfectly. the race pamphlet should show your chart. then again maybe they won't - it might scare off everyone

and, make no mistake - your goal of not slipping and falling requires some focus on that course. lose concentration on the last steep downhill and you'll be eating asphalt

Yes. The part people complain about is net change of about 45m over less than 400m, so over a 10% grade, followed by more rolling hills.

Are you telling me that it is under a 3 minute difference between running hills for months, or eating chocolate for the same months. I'll take the chocolate and the extra 3 minutes, thank you very much

Good Work Barbara. and keep up on that chocolate training!

The same thing crossed my mind. I'm sure Barbara will be biding her time and striking when he least expects it, like in a bib pick-up line at the 2017 ATB. WHAMO...Rob never saw it coming!!!
