Thank you HM and Carm for reporting on the Banana Nut Bread - makes me sad, cause I was hoping for greatness!!

I was going to do an online order, but one of Derek's colleages mentioned there is a DT at Bayshore. I had no idea one had opened - can you tell how often I go into the city

I'm disappointed too. I actually go in to DT very infrequently since I live in the 'burbs so most of my orders have been online. OK, I've consumed a lot more tea than usual today. Off to try the Organic Vanilla Rooibos.

you mentioned this before, so yesterday i tried my buttered rum with milk and sugar (which is how i normally take my black tea) and like it so much more! i think i was trying to drink them all black so i could really evaluate the flavours, but in some cases, milk and sugar changes it (imo, for the better!).

I find the "flavoured" teas often do better with sugar (and milk).

(For those who don't like the banana nut bread...I do drink it with milk and sugar too. And I steep it longer than called for)

Ah, I see. That would enhance the flavour, I imagine. I'm not a fan of adding sugar to my coffee or tea, but I would try it once to see if it increased my enjoyment of this tea.

I really need to get to David's Tea this weekend. I have walked past one of our local ones, but it is usually around closing time (it is in a mall with a movie theatre that we go to), so I haven't actually checked the store out.

I love tea but I tend to drink it black (at most some sugar but never milk), so I'll need to find some that are good to drink black.

Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait is delish and I'm not a huge fan of fruit teas. I used about 2 heaping teaspoons in my cup and 1/2 steeper and it's just a tad too concentrated.

I'm like this too and I found the glitter and gold supremely delish straight up. Very nice flavor to it.

Has anyone tried the Salted Caramel? I haven't bought tea from David's, but this may get me to try.

ooh that sounds good. I want to try the La la lemon. I'm not a fan of herbal or flavoured teas but lemon sounds good! :)

I picked up some of the salted caramel after work. It's steeping now. Smells pretty good.

Question though. How do you steep your tea? I bought a tea ball but leaves are leaking out of it. Should have gotten the tea bags instead but they aren't reusable, or is there such a thing as a reusable tea bag? Or am I doing something wrong that leaf bits are falling out of the ball?

David's Tea

Postby Kelodie » Fri Oct 05, 2012 3:29 am

I'm pretty sure I heard about reusable tea bags.

I use a tea ball at home (some of the leaves escape) and a bodum at work (no leaves escape). Maybe you could get a bodum if that bothers you? I personally don't mind "eating" a few small pieces of leaves.

I use a plastic infuser and I like it. Rarely have stuff coming out, I don't like the ball for that reason.

I have a small glass teapot with the basket in the middle. The mesh is fine enough that no leaeves escape.

Something like this:

I've got a mug of pumpkin chai in my bodum travel mug right now, sweetened with a bit of brown sugar and a splash of milk.

I mostly use a plastic/nylon infuser. It has a mesh, so nothing gets through. The tea ball is good for plain teas which are just leaves, but for teas with spices or smaller pieces, you need the infuser. I sometimes use the paper bags as well - they aren't resuable, but they are compostable.

I saw her tonight and picked up some Glitter & Gold and a cup of yummy Cream of Earl Grey

I picked up some of the disposable drawstring bags for work, but at home I use a little teapot like the image above. It makes about 1.5 cups of tea.

Two thumbs up for Glitter & Gold (black, no sugar/sweetner).

I had forgotten how much I enjoy loose leaf tea.

I just restocked my Chocolate Rocket stash yesterday. I love this as a post run tea!

I do have a VERY serious Pumpkin Chai problem. Forgot about Read My Lips, I will have to pick that one up next time and I also like the Chocolate Chili Chai as well.

Salted Caramel is good, but I think it needs to be paired with milk/sugar. I usually drink my tea black, and this wasn't fit for that.
