Welcome 2012 Sunday Run!
Welcome 2012 Sunday Run!
Hello 2012 ... what exciting and wonderful things do you have for RM runners? A year free of injury and filled with PB's I hope!
Decided to start the year right and am heading out the door shortly for a run, probably around 4 - 5 KM. Did my LSR yesterday and normally don't run the day after but want to start 2012 off with a run!
Happy New Year everyone! Have a great day and a greater year!

8.8km of a few hills this morning. Felt like spring out there this morning. Great temps for running but not so great for winter sports.... off to the airport shortly to pick up my daughter. She's returning from Newfoundland after spending a week with her dad. Can't wait to see her!

Heading out to my Mom's for family celebration round 2 and a visit with my Dad. I'm going start the year off right with a 5 km run along the canal or in Ingleside.
Happy New Year!

I'm in transit now back to YVR (in DIA for another hour). We had to wake up super early in Florida, but I will be back home in time for an easy run this afternoon.

Hi all and Happy New 2012!
Did a 15.5 km yesterday; with the help of fellow maniacs' advice, sorted out some logistical problems (in praise of gaiters!) and had no equipment issues. I am tempted to run again this afternoon, before the forecasted wind turns ugly. But the dreaded "Smog warning in effect" is still there on weatheroffice.gc.ca.
Best Wishes to all,
Sustain

During any successful session, one might and should have a moment of truth, "should I continue or just walk home?". If you don't break down, the same thing might happen a few hundred steps later, but you already dealt with that issue. This usually happens in the second half, anyways. The satisfaction one derives later, when at home, is extremely gratifying, and is a build up like no other to further efforts.

Re: Welcome 2012 Sunday Run!
Today I ran the 5 Km Resolution Run Pickering - Whitby version. The run took place in Oshawa at noontime. My time was 24 minutes and 20 seconds. I am sure the path was not measured properly as I ran 5 Km on a treadmill on Dec. 29 in 23 min. and 40 seconds without that much effort and today I really struggled to finish the 5 Km. But regarless of that issue, it was a great way to start the year.

Easy 5K of run/walk in the basement. Hoping the hamstring doesn't complain too loudly.

Hope you have a big basement so that you don't have to do too many laps!
9K Hair of the Dog race done. It was so lovely and beautiful when I got up at 9AM, but by the time the race started it was raining and windy! Booooo!
Anyway, had a great race, new PB and a 2nd place finish! What a great way to start the year!

Congrats, La!
I got out and did 21k to welcome the new year. Coldest day in a few weeks here (-13 at the start - brrrrr!), but sunny and with almost no wind. Finished off with brunch with the family, and now a lazy day awaits me.

Nice moderate 10K done this morning - started out in sun, ended in pouring rain, but thankfully the rain only really got bad in the last km or so. Got changed and had a stretch after, then straight over to the neighbours' for an excellent New Year's brunch. Definitely a good start to the year!
PR's so far: 5K 27:15, 10K 55:25, 21.1K 2:10:53, 42.2K 5:21:27

Happy New Year!!
Did the 5k resolution run this morning with a 4:22/km avg pace which includes a 20 second stop at a traffic light and I slowed down a bit to time myself (so I didn't have to come to a complete stop) as I approached another traffic light. Good enough for 2nd overall.

Re: Welcome 2012 Sunday Run!
Way to go Lesley, you totally rocked that race today! Nice work pushing the pace on NY Day Alfie.
I also did the Hair of the Dog run this morning- it was super yucky out, but we had lots of fun. A whole bunch of us missed the start, as we were huddling for warmth inside... we checked our watches and thought we had about 3 minutes to get outside, and when we walked out, people had just started! Oops!!! Ah well, I was the fourth woman, which is ok by me. I think I could've been third for sure had I started on time, and probably better had I not had so much fun last night. I was 43 minutes and change for 9K, not even half marathon pace, haha, but I'll call it a "post new year's eve PB". It was a great way to start 2012, that's for sure!
ETA- I just measured the course, and it's actually a bit over 9.3km... so it WAS under half marathon pace. Yay!
