Green Sunday
Green Sunday
No green grass but Happy St. Patty's everyone! I wish you all some Irish luck and a great day of running! It is another rest day for me. My shoulder continues to be a problem. I injured it (bicep tendon tear and possibly more) back in December in the big snowstorm and it was doing well however repeated snow clearing and helping my aunt post her hip surgery has made it hard to heal. It's hard to heal when you can't rest an injury! My doctor was not much help - she just wants to re assess in a month. The LHIN refused the MRI (again) and I can't get the screening the require until JULY! So it is physio, massage, and rest. I was running 30 minutes 3 times a week (occasionally four) with it just starting to hurt at the end but my aunt fell and I had to pick her up off the floor and ... physio now has me off for a month. So I am hoping the little irish leprechaun's take the predicted major snowstorm this week far far away so I do not have to clear the snow away, that they keep my aunt on her feet from here on, and also bring me a pot of golden healing! Meanwhile I am staying inside on this cold morning and thinking maybe rest is not too bad

Morning!
16.5K in 1:51 with the HM clinic. That includes all breaks. I don't stop my garmin with the RR groups because the run-walk police might get me.
Anyway, it was a lovely run in the chilly sunshine. The first 10K was with the marathon clinic, then we cut off for the last 7 or so K. The marathon clinic is HUGE! I think the instructor bribes them. I have to figure out his trick.
That's it for good or bad for ATB. I haven't seriously tapered for this race in 3 years, so I'm not sure what the outcome will be. I've had some really hopeful signals in the past few weeks, but endurance will be the key.

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

Green Sunday
Well after 10 days off running due to pulled hamstring and a pretty tough spin class yesterday, and a riding lesson, opted for a nice easy 5k along the river with my pooch Finn! A tad chilly mind you! Thank God for spinning to keep the cardio! Hamstring is fine, dog just loves to run! I thoroughly enjoyed running just with him no tunes just sounds of our footfalls and the birds! Awesome! Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone!

No run yet, I am getting out for a 5 km or an 8 km this afternoon. The weather is too nice not to run.

16 miles outside for me today. Still battling this cold....and getting tired of it. Wish I had an extra week before ATB but alas, I do not. We'll see how it goes.

Hey, I was at "your" RR this morning and hoping to see you, but literally didn't see you until you were out on the street getting organized. Too bad. Good luck at ATB!

Re: Green Sunday
Happy St Patrick's Day everyone! Happy to have a chilly-ish 32.5 km over for today. It was a group run, organized as a Boston practice, and supposed to be 36 km. My running buddy and I skipped one of the hills so did a bit less. I'm actually very happy, we ran a good strong pace for most of it, and that was despite the fact that I felt bone-tired right from the start. Even after getting some extra sleep yesterday, I can still feel the effects of the last especially gruelling week at work. Bleah...
But about that hill... Had the energy to run it (slowly) but not the willpower to face the wind. My body was fine, but by that point my face was SO cold, and hands were getting cold, and the thought of running uphill into a cold wind...just didn't have it in me. I was just so glad to finally finish, and get inside, and warm my skin. Can't wait for winter to be over!

Just a really easy 5K on the TM for me to get my legs moving after yesterday's race. Felt really relaxing actually.

For once, I got to sleep in later than the alcoholics today.
25K "race" this morning at the slow end of MP with a friend. Although the course was rolling, I feel like I got off easy compared to the longer runs of recent weeks.

I had fabulous plans to stay home this morning, let DH sleep in, and then go for my longish run while DH and C went to swimming lessons. Instead, we woke up to a flooded laundry room, so my morning was spent driving around to pick up a shop vac, hurrying C to swimming (In my running clothes, because I had been ready to go out the door!) and then fitting in a very blah 8.5 km during nap time. Oh well - this run won't make or break my race.

Re: Green Sunday
10 miles done. First half was with my beginners' group (I love initiating people into north shore trail running!). Second half was with paved because two of us ran down to north shore athletics to check out their clearance sale... then I ran home from there.

Just in from 10K in 59 minutes. Not what I'd originally planned to do today, but it felt great!

Re: Green Sunday
The weather here is awful (bad enough that my kids' ski lesson was cancelled because of the cold and blowing snow!) so I hit the TM. Since I was "only" doing 20k, I decided to make it more interesting. 4k warm up, then 7 Mystery Miles (1.6k of something hard, then .4k recovery at 6:00/k and 1% incline). Wound up being 3 x tempo pace (5:00/k, 1% incline), 2 x MP (5:30/k, 2% incline), and 2 x hills (6:00/k, 5% incline), followed by 2k cool down. I'm feeling pretty glad to be done, but it sure makes almost 2 hours on the TM pass quickly.

Re: Green Sunday
12.5K, mostly on trails. The Proctor Park trails are pretty nasty this time of year- mostly glare ice, with the odd bit of deep, soft mud where the sun hits the trails. Had a couple of good wipeouts, and lots of close calls. Much more interesting than running on roads!
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.
