Run for the Rose Half Marathon
Like I said in the daily thread, this race was extremely well organized, there was no room for improvement, very well marked and marshaled, great start and finish area, nice course that was challenging.

The weather turned out to be perfect, for mid July you couldn't ask for better weather.

The family just got back from vacation up near Buckhorn on Saturday, a week ago I thought a race the day after vacation sounded like a good idea. Well usually I plan to take two days off running before a race, on Friday I went out for a run, and half way through it my head clears, I started to do some math and figure out it's Friday!! So I finish up with a few intervals and head home. Oh well. Nice running up there, lots of hills.

Wake up at 5:30am, way too early the day after vacation, so I sneak out of the house and head to the race. My strategy for the race was start slow about 4:15-20 pace for the first 8k because it's mostly an incline for that part of the course then pick it up to about 4:10 until the end. The first 8k was into the wind too so my pace was a bit higher and I don't think I had totally decided to actually 'race' this one or not.

Well come 8k something happened and I decided to turn it on. I used a group of 5 runners that got by me early on as motivation and I eventually tracked all of them down except for one girl that turned out to be the winning female, another few hundred meters and I would of caught her too.

I finished with a PB 1:28:05 average pace of 4:11, 10th overall and 3rd in my age group. No age group awards though

This proves to me I should be able to creep in on 1:25:xx some day.

I had a great time at this race, talked to a few other Maniacs and headed home.

Yet another PB! Way to go, Robbie T!
Lightning :)

We're going to try this new thing called jogging. Or maybe it's yogging-with a silent "j". Apparently you just run for an extended period of time. It's supposed to be wild.

More like 1:20. Keep training and don't give up. You're pretty good at that.

I did the same thing! I was so focused on her that I almost missed you altogether! Great job on a PB! I'm sad that there were no age group awards for you - although 10th place overall is pretty spectacular!!
