Yeah, we needed a support group for all the 100 miler virgins. I love the name Haliburtons Anonymous.
The thread name I had in mind was "Everything You Always Wanted to Know about Haliburton, but Were Afraid to Ask", but with a really cryptic acronym like E YAWT KAHB WATA and pronounce it "ee-yaught-kaab-whata". But Haliburtons Anonymous is short and sweet, unlike the distance.

Methinks this has become the official greeting of RMers when they encounter one another at Haliburton.

Re: Haliburtons Anonymous (HA)
I have tried to ramp up to the Hali 50M for 4 years and injuries always force me to the middle road (50K). Mind you, having just read what I wrote, who could possibly conceive of 50K being the "middle road"? A bigger struggle will be to convince eveready bunny (Lee Anne) to run Haliburton... She is not a techy trail runner!

Will be anxiously watching WS100 lottery today http://ws100.com before deciding the year, but just can't imagine not being at Haliburton in one form or another. Undecided at this point though. Will be great to follow along regardless.
On a side note, I don't think I mentioned this anywhere, but I spoke with Helen recently and she said there may be a course change for next year. Didn't elaborate, but sounded like more/new trail. Fun!

Okay. So first question. What are some strategies if, or more like when the legs seize up? And at what point should I expect this to happen?

Re: Haliburtons Anonymous (HA)
No luck for this kid in the WS100 lottery. I would have loved to get in, but have to say that I wasn't too impressed with the selection process and the ever changing rules. Maybe I would have thought differently if I'd been selected, but I really don't think so. They seem to have succeeded in making things very confusing and difficult for themselves. Oh well. Maybe I'll try again next year.
Time to ponder the 2010 race schedule now and start planning.

Was bummed that they picked the last 10 from the crowd. Sorry you didn't get picked this year.

Yes, a "WTF" could be heard for many miles around Yarker when that happened. ....Kind of a waste of an afternoon in front of the damn computer.

Re: Haliburtons Anonymous (HA)
WS100 is getting weird in their selection process. A couple of running buddies were hoping to get in this year, but I don't see their names on the list. Bummer. Sorry to hear you had no luck this time, derrick. Good luck if you enter next year. WS 100 is a race on my wish list. I'd like to give it a try in a few years. Meanwhile, eyes on the buckles in the OUSER. Haliburton anyone?
