RM Trail Race Shallonge Trophy
As many who followed the recent Sulphur Springs race threads know there is a new trophy up for grabs. Kindly created and donated by AirForceRunner for the 25km shallonge at Sulphur Springs, it is a beauty.
In the spirit of the spud trophy, this trophy will be passed along to be contested at any future trail race shallonges. The only request of AFR was that shallonge participants must be willing to get down and dirty on the trails and on the forum because some good-natured trash talking is part of the fun. So throw out the shallonge, get those elbows up, and run hard.
This trophy, now in my possession, is sturdy enough to be shipped/mailed around the country, so if a current guardian can't participate in a shallonge it can be delivered to any participant. Besides if it gets broken en route then a little wire and duct tape will only add to the appeal.
Let's keep track of the shallonge races here:
2010
race: Sulphur Springs 25km
winner: b_squared
participants: AirForceRunner, Doonst, Casual-runner

love it! In fact, I think I'll sticky this thread so we don't lose track of it.
Wish I had someone to shallonge with. :(

My only concern here would be the trophy leaving the confines of RM and disappearing.

Oh my! I can't even enjoy the spoils of victory for 2 days and already challenges to the throne.
Well then start a thread, issue the shallonge and see who wants to play!

I wasn't planning to run the ITT, but I really like that trophy...
I can easy beat Doonst on this course by let say 5 minutes. Even the 5-fingered vibrams will not help Ironboy to be a threat to everyone. I don't think that b_squared can handle the pressure of being the defending champion...
AirForceRunner is great in making nice trophies, but can he really run on trails?

Why don't you boys renew your hostilities at the biggest and most competitive trail series in Ontario? I'm sure I can even talk the race director into throwing in some free entries as prizes...

This immediately grabbed my attention and I was about to confirm my entry. Then I saw the pics....

Yes please everyone read and look at the ITT and make an informed decision if its for you.. Its not like other races. Its tricky.

Re: RM Trail Race Shallonge Trophy
Looks like a summer full of trail shallonges could emerge!
Casual-runner is not so casual about his trash talk apparently. Nicely done!
dgrant - I like your idea. I am already in for Rattlesnake (July 10); Terra Cotta (Aug 7) would be next up but possibly encroaching on ITT (Aug 21). Anyone else for either of the 5peaks races? I could be persuaded to change my race (or do both if time allows)
I'd really like to run ITT, but it seems that course deserves a lot of respect.

I plan to be at Terra Cotta but can't make my fave Rattlesnake Point. I also will show up for Creemore 25 and Limberlost 28 in July. Then ITT and on to Haliburton.

Thanks Dave it is an interesting offer. Unfortunately my calendar is booked with non-trail events until early August, but good luck to all trail racers, have fun

Nice excuse Wesley. All booked up eh? Yeah. Right.
So Dgrant, how about a link, what are the dates?
ETA: Just saw b_squared's post. So July 10th and August 7th.... I'll check my calendar

http://www.5peaks.com/schedule.asp?p=on is the link and I could be persuaded to run those two; Rattlesnake Point and Terra Cotta. C'mon James, you know you wanna!
Re: RM Trail Race Shallonge Trophy
Crap. If your coming I'm too chicken.
Actually I have the big kids both those weekends. Terra Cotta I'll either be in Thunder Bay, on my way home from Thunder Bay or recovering from a trip to Thunder Bay.
Rattlesnake, is possible, but choosing between bringing the kids all they way there and leaving them with Kiza while I go off on a racing adventure to kick some RM butt, are both equally unappealing.
I may have to bail on both.

But you need to practice before ITT, right?

While y'all smack talk amongst yourselves I'm just going to sit back and read safe in the knowledge that it's all hot air. I know who is going to win the Rattlesnake schallonge, and likely the Terra Cotta as well.
