Re: Getting Old sucks
Hi! Nice to see you! Yes, getting old certainly sucks at times. I just got back into running again last year and it's amazing how much a few years does to a body. I wish I had some good advice but since I'm a work in progress as well, all I can say is hang in there and don't be afraid to adjust your...

Waver here. Or, at least, a smile and a nod. It is rare that I don't get an acknowledgement back, though it happens occasionally.

Short run with the boy along on his bike. I was sucking wind! Good thing he makes me stop all the time so that he can show me things.

Re: Top 10 running fashion faux pas
Ted must have read this article. He gave me a hard time this morning about wearing my orange RM socks and my orange RM shirt. But they were the most comfortable clean socks I had and I was already wearing the shirt, so, whatever. :) I'll admit I don't pay too much attention to what other runners are...

Got a run in before work this morning. It wasn't long but it was nice to start the day that way. 3km in the sunshine.

Slow 4.5 k done with a small child along on the bike. It included a stop at a playground and a neighbour's garage sale where his kindergarten friend was selling lemonade.

Re: Why Are Guys Afraid to Wear Speedos?
Take a holiday to Mexico. The Mayan Riviera is full of Spaniards and Italians in teeny speedos regardless of age or BMI. They've brought their topless wives with them. You should bring your eye bleach. Depends on the time of year. IME the speedo ratio goes down in March and up in May. And the only ...

30 mins of 2&1s today. Starting back slowly seems to be paying off as I felt great!

Re: Star Wars Saturday
Ran 21 miles on the treadmill this morning. Now THAT is commitment! Just back from 30 minutes run/walk. Really trying to take it easy and focus on relaxing and enjoying it. It's a struggle to get back lost fitness, but today was a beautiful day for running and if I didn't have a whole bunch of comm...

Starting over...again. Going to try to be kinder to myself this time and start slow in the hopes I don't give up, so did 24 min run/walk with no Garmin.

Re: Boston Marathon 2013
I am still struggling with this today. When I think of the dozens of races my family has come out to watch me finish, it sickens me to think those out cheering on their loved ones (or strangers) were deliberately put in harms way.

First run outside since Melissas and first try since getting my iron back to normal. It poured rain last night and then froze, so I just did 20 minutes very carefully. Felt great! Fingers crossed that I can keep improving.

Re: It's Tuesday
Did nothing today. I am traveling for work, and put in 14 hours yesterday and 12 hours today, with no sign of letting up. Good news is, I suppose, that although I'm tired, I am not falling down exhausted, which means the iron supplements might be doing their job. I brought my stuff to use the hotel ...

I jumped in the pool this afternoon while the boy was doing his swimming lesson and did 500m. I am SOOOO out of practice, but it was a little like riding a bike in that I haven't completely forgotten how to do it.

I like to paint my nail beds when I lose a toenail. Just a suggestion.

I have the day off today and did 20 minutes walk/run. I found out this week that my hemoglobin/red blood cell count is low, and apparently has been for months. It's not so low that it's considered dangerous (which is why my doctor didn't mention it after my last physical), but low enough to explain ...

I am skipping posts because I won't be able to catch the tri coverage until tonight!
Hoping to do 1/2 hour in the pool tonight while the boy does his swimming lesson. There is only one lane open so if it is full, I may pass.

Owowowowow! It's worse than I thought! I am sore just from taking an easy run yesterday. Working in the garage (sheeting and putting up shelves, then moving everything) didn't help. Planned 5 km while the boys rode thir bikes, but wound up running the first half and walking the second. Better than n...

I am registered in the 22K but am completely unprepared, and am planning to change to the 10K. I thought I would ask if any Maniacs have a 10K and want to trade, since there is no option to change distance from 10 to 22. PM me if you're interested! First come first served.

Re: Sandy Jacobson Injured Cycling in Edmonton
All I can think of is how often I ride the trails (either for leisure or to/from day care) with Harrison in the seat on the back of my bike. I don't even like to think about how a child could also be badly hurt or see his mom or dad bleeding badly as a result of something like this. I really hope th...

Sandy Jacobson Injured Cycling in Edmonton
I haven't been around much but didn't see this posted yet and wanted to share this link. Sandy Jacobson was cut by a fishing line strung across a path in Rundle Park in Edmonton on Sunday.
Horrible and reckless, and I am just glad that she wasn't badly hurt.
Be careful, cyclists!
