Re: Cadence
Over the past two days I went for a few runs to try out the metronome app I download. I set it to 175 bpm (I know, 180 is the magic number but I'll build to it) and just focused on quicker feet. I also used my garmin footpod and set the display on my watch to cadence, this kept things accurate/consi...

Re: GPS Watch with Heart Rate Monitor - Newby Question
I highly agree with Jwolf, buy this type of product from MEC or REI. I've gone through a Nike gps sportswatch, 2 Garmin forerunner 210, and I'm on my second forerunner 310xt, this is all in less than 2 years. No problem return/exchange with MEC and REI. In my opinion the Garmin watch is more accurat...

Re: Cadence
Thats good advice, thank you. I'm gunna try to add the strides to my long easy paced runs. I usually don't run with music but I downloaded a run specific metronome app that I'm gunna try to match my steps to. I definetly notice I push off too hard and I start to throw my foot out too far ahead when ...

Cadence
I'm looking to improve my running cadence. My average steps per minute will range from 166-170 (according to my footpod sensor). Can anyone recomend any drills or have any advice on turning my feet over quicker? I've heard of using a metronome, can anyone recomend an app or device?

Re: Top 10 running fashion faux pas
I can't wear tights with shorts over them (just wrong for a guy), I think girls could get away with it. I saw a guy running in a half marathon with an all blue one piece tri suit, and matching blue calf guards, he scored big time on the running fashion faux pas.

Re: The runners wave?
If I'm taking it easy and running at a comfortable pace I smile and nod but most of the time I get ignored (mostly by the younger folk I noticed). I choose to believe they ignore me because they can tell I enjoy running way more than they do.

Re: Lets talk rest
Personally, a rest day for me is just as important as my intervals, or my longer endurance runs, or even hill repeats. To me quality of training is more important than quantity. A rest day is important to me because allows me to recovery from hard training. When I study my training journal my best r...
