Back to the deep freeze Monday Thread

Postby runJrun » Mon Feb 24, 2014 1:18 pm

No Monday thread yet? Today is a double for me. Going to run for half an hour on the TM at lunch and then some core work. This evening is registered spin for 75 mins. Will get there early and do some weights first.
Jocelyn

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

I agree wholeheartedly - this weather is getting the better of me, I'm afraid...

Today is my day off work, and I was in the parking lot of the gym near my mom's house before 8, planning on going before grabbing coffee and going to her place for a visit. Then I realized I didn't bring my pass, and since it wasn't my home gym location, I wasn't sure they'd let me in without it. So, it turned into a rest day.

I did the 90 minute commute home via Mount Royal, and blessedly, did not feel the cold in the wind, but it was strong enough to slow you down. Ice everywhere and more dangerous after dark. Felt great, with uncommon speed using trail shoes.
During any successful session, one might and should have a moment of truth, "should I continue or just walk home?". If you don't break down, the same thing might happen a few hundred steps later, but you already dealt with that issue. This usually happens in the second half, anyways. The satisfaction one derives later, when at home, is extremely gratifying, and is a build up like no other to further efforts.

I did. 5k on the TM, plus 30min on the bike.
