Nope! I check the trends daily!!!!
Re: Boston Marathon 2013
I will be there cheering again!! I'm heading to Boston for a baby shower and through happy coincidence they decided to hold it that weekend. I'm arriving Saturday night and staying until Monday night so I can catch the marathon. My friend lives right ON the marathon course, just after mile 24, so I'm very excited!!!
(I'm also really excited to be flying with Jetblue out of the Buffalo... the Air Canada terminal at BOS was one of my worst flying experiences! 2+ hour delay and no food past security except old sandwiches. Ugh.)

Sorry, in my opinion AC is one of the best. Last time I flew out of BUF to BOS it was with US. IMO all US carriers (If there are more than 2 these days) are crap. Cancelled flights, huge bag fees etc.
AC has been the most curteous and most consistent since 2009 for me.
Westjet fails = Montreal delayed 4 hrs, Vancouver 6+ hrs. Nothing done for me either time. I'm not letting them have a strike 3.
I had a good time with Porter in Chi, but I can't leave until 8pm Sat, so AC it is.
Thanks for the note about the sammies though. As I probably was going to go there for my post race meal, I'll have to consider something on the way.
Re: Boston Marathon 2013
I've used the weathernetwork for all my US weather and they've always been spot on. Even last year's Boston when others were predicting reprive.
I'm mainly concerned with Hopkinton rather than Boston per say - since most of my time will be there. They're calling for around 0 (high of 4) with rain. Seems like its raining for a week+!
That will change 6+ times until they morning of, and still be off, but that's what I got now.
Weatherunderground does not have data past 10 days.

i almost didn't make it to boston in 2011 because of air canada (connecting through montreal), so i'm still holding a grudge! jetblue luckily doesn't charge for the first checked bag... my only complaint so far is that the price dropped by about 50% after i booked, but that's the risk you take with any airline. they did give me a bit of a credit for the difference. they had direct BUF-BOS flights available this morning for $175USD, minus $20 if you use the BAA promo code, so $155USD taxes in.
definitely plan to eat before heading to the airport, or before going through security. i misread the map and thought there would be restaurants available post-security, but it was just a cart with some sandwiches. if i had known how long the delay would be, i would have exited and gone through security again (which was very short and fast).

Watch for an old guy with a beard. I will be wearing a white Canada shirt ( perhaps a jacket over it if it is cold ) I plan to wear a black runningmania.com hat My Bib number is 20812. If I have any energy left, I will look around a bit at Mile 24. In any case thanks for the cheering.

Re: Boston Marathon 2013
I'm feeling like I've got a cold coming on
I blame the other runners last night. Not that I was that close to them but I guess when we were hanging out and talking. We'll see how this plays out.
Now it's looking a few degrees warmer.
Meb is the latest elite to drop out.
Now Ryan hall, Eric Gillis, and him are out. Boo. I wanted to feel like I was racing them. At least it makes my victory that much easier when they concede defeat. Now I have to beat 2101 (I'm 2102) - 3 = 2098! The odds are looking better

If you're staying near the start then you're pretty close to where my family lives. My sister is only a couple miles from Hopkinton State Park.
We're staying in Franklin. I think Mrs. Tortoise will likely drop me off at Hopkinton State ark as they are running shuttle buses to the Athlete's Village at the start. Trying to drive anywhere near the start area will be difficult.
I was dropped off at the state park the two times I did Boston too. Saves so much time and discomfort. The bus system is super-organized from there. You will have time to stretch out in a sunny parking lot so bring some cushiony things to make it comfy!

Weather for Hop + Bos seems to be high of 13c and low of 1-3c. Sunny and a 25km SW wind.

Lucky you. Looking at the Weather Channel projection, for a couple days on either side of race day is perfect racing weather: cool (but not cold) start, nice (but not warm) finish, gentle breeze mostly at your back. If you can walk the fine line between being ambitious and being greedy, that course can yield a PB in those conditions.
Re: Boston Marathon 2013
Presently the forecast is low of 5 C and high of 15 C - mainly cloudy

Re: Boston Marathon 2013
I am starting to worry already. I have a slight cold at the moment. Also some changes - I shaved my beard as it may be a bit warmer than first forecast.
( Also every bit of weight I don't have to lug for 42.2 km is an asset. ) Also, I decided to wear a fuel belt rather than the Camelback as I can regulate my hydration a bit better. As we have a refrigerator and a microwave in our hotel room, I am taking my own breakfast and snacks for carbo loading.
BTW - My bib number is 20812 . I start in one of the first corrals in the third wave.
A question for those who have used the Hopkinton State Park to park or be dropped off. How late do the shuttle buses run? As I don't have to be ready to leave the Athlete's Village until 10:00 AM, could I have Mrs. Tortoise drop me off later than 7 AM?
Thanks,
a nervous tortoise
