Yep, this is part of the discussion about articles. We'd need volunteers to write them (and they need to be well-written) and also volunteers to edit. So if people have ideas and/or writing skills, let us know!

I realize this probably doesn't add a lot of content to the site but could we highlight "Tri-the World" in some way? aren't we a "sponsor"? ;)

Oooo I will totally volunteer to write! On anything really, I love to research and write.
Im a dork :?

I think we could totally have our own e-zine or something (well, perhaps just a thread for the articles and images of the month would do - would get to have on the spot feedback and discussion. that would be awesome)

RM isn't officially a sponsor of anything... as a community we support the endeavors of ALL of our members. ;)

We could add them to the fundraising page, if/when I update that.

Sweet. Pick a topic (use recent discussion topics if you like), write something up, and we'll go from there. A couple of pages per article is cool. If we could get a few to start us off, even better (any other volunteers?).

just as easy for me to add it myself... would it make everyone's life easier? for that matter we could include a field for the results of each, combining the two ideas...

again (I feel like I'm repeating myself), I'm looking for ways to add *content value* to the larger site. I'm not necessarily looking for ways to make the forum "better" or to do things that are only for current members. I'm looking for ways to EXPAND, so that we can appeal to more people than our membership group.

eta: that's why I'm pushing the route maps, and why I like the idea of articles.

Want what? I can't figure out what feature you're talking about.

Jacc is talking about a feature where people can enter in their races into a database that can be displayed. The same as our member races pdfs that Jwolf has been doing, but she wouldn't have to do the updates--each person could do their own and it would update automatically.

How about a reciprocal "Maniacs Met" application? Jacc and Irongirl both keep track of their number of maniacs met.

I'm not sure how it would work exactly. Maybe I would check press a button on somebody's forum post saying "I have met this person", and they would get added to my list, and I would get added to their list. Or make it more like facebook, where you have to confirm and provide information about how/where you met the person?

I would like to do an article on Tri the World. But I will likely want to do it at the beginning of the year when they really start going with their training. I'll contact B-Man and Stella to get their go ahead...I'd like to do an interview style article.

Whatever you decide to do, try to think "Web 2.0". A succesful E-Zine requires a staff of paid employees. You don't have those resources.
