Equipment
Triathlon / Duathlon
Miscellaneous, etc..


Any other ideas ? Perhaps, even a percentage of sales going to keeping this terrific forum going?

i think we'll leave it as one board for now and see how the demand is.

we can't force people to give us a percentage of the sales... however at some point there will be an option to donate to the cause. for now we're ok. :)

We definitely need to find a way to keep the site sponsor and pop-up free, and keep Holly out of the poorhouse after she's paid for this site.

BUT...

We must not have the site partake in any financial aspects of buying/selling/trading (ie. taking a percentage). Although we may all feel comfortable with the group here now, the reality of online deals are that scams happen all the time. In the case of a bike this could be thousands of dollars, and if the site (or its owner Holly) were to benefit in any way from the deal, it (or her) may be considered responsible or liable.

Sorry to sound alarmist, but I've lurked around other forums with buy/sell/trade boards, and am always amazed at how people will fork over $500 to somebody who just joined the site that day. Hopefully this site will be so attractive that it will someday have hundreds of members, many of whom won't know eachother like we do now. I'm 100% behind the sentiment of reimbursing Holly for her costs, but I think we can find a way with more minimal risks.

No worries guys ... as with another site that I most frequent ... contributions and donations to maintain the site is strictly on a voluntary basis .... My only proposition was that, if people find that this service (or any specific part of it, re: Classifieds) are indeed a great service (which it is) than, it is up to each individual to decide what they deem as beneficial ... Nothing is obligatory only consideration ...
