Carpal Tunnel or...?

Postby trixiee » Sun Nov 24, 2013 2:41 pm

Something is keeping me awake at night, and it's getting worse.

I wake up b/c my right hand, particularly the middle and ring finger are "asleep". There's a bit of toothache-like pain in the hand, wrist and forearm, as well as the shoulder area. Not sure if it's a pinched nerve or something else... I do have a bit of arthritis in my wrist, but this is something else. I took a week off - no exercise, other than housework. I d a lot of driving and typing.

Last night the pain and discomfort was so bad, I was up and pacing for an hour, as the only thing that relieves it is standing and rolling out my shoulder blades on the foam roller - and two advil.

Any thoughts? It's still achy today - but I have been doing a lot of typing today...

Could also be radial nerve irritation from cycling and having your hands on the bars. But it does sound like a mouse-related injury.

Ugh. Up again! Ache in my trapezius then wrist, then sleepy, prickly thumb, pointer finger, middle and ring fingers. Took 2 Advil and rolled my shoulder blades. No relief.

Possibly thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) (obviously can't form a clinical impression without an assessment). The posture of cycling and working at a desk (and driving which I think you do a lot of for work) can create that 'rolled forward' posture which can lead at TOS.

Yup. See a therapist or doctor. Don't let it get worse.

I agree--sounds like something to be checked out. Hope the Aleve helps in the meantime, and you can get a good night's sleep.

I think it's stemming from something in my shoulder blade area. I have been rolling it out, splinting my wrist, and taking Aleve. I have had a much better sleep last night, and hopefully, my massage therapist can fit me in tomorrow. :)

I actually slept fairly well last night! Just a couple of short wake-ups to shake out the shoulder, hand...
Nope, my RMT didn't call me back :x ... but I'm so busy today that I won't have time to go anyhow. I have to prepare for a BIG presentation tomorrow. BIG! HUGE! :shifty:
