They are in SW Kansas right now. The graphic pins on the tracker shows them in first place, but the leader board shows them in second, so not really sure right now. If I look at the leader board they're only 9 miles behind the leaders.
1431 miles covered so far.

Re: Bike for Kids 2017 (Vancouver to St. John's)
I'm leaving first thing tomorrow morning from MB/ON border and driving all the way home. Where should I be looking out for the guys? They had a "short" day yesterday (85K) from Portage La Prairie to Winnipeg because they had to have some work done on their bikes at MEC. So, they're headin...

Re: Race Across America (RAAM)
The race started on Saturday and Team TPL is currently in 2nd place!! :D That's pretty good for a rookie team. From what I read, the lead team is very experienced and racing like a well-oiled machine. http://www.teamtpl.com/race-tracking They're currently in south-western Colorado at mile 1,021. The...

Re: Bike for Kids 2017 (Vancouver to St. John's)
Two of my friends are riding across Canada to raise money for Sick Kids Hospital / Meagan's Walk, which raises research funding for pediatric brain tumours. They left Vancouver on June 2 and just left Brooks, AB today (11 days into their journey). They're riding to Irvine, AB today, and they'll be ...

Race Across America (RAAM) - done in 5 days, 18 hrs 20 mins
While we're on the topic of riding long distances to raise money, another friend of mine (and 7 of his friends) are participating in the Race Across America from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis, MD. The race starts on June 17. They are called Team True Patriot Love and they are 8 guys (and a support crew...

Re: Where are people buying discount shoes these days?
My new shoes arrived on Friday and they're great, but... I inadvertently ordered the Gore-Tex model and they're going to be too hot for running in the summer. Gah!

Re: Good running store in Toronto
There's a new-ish pace at King & Bathurst called Black Toe. They seem to cater to more experienced runners (as opposed to RR). I've never shopped there. They also have a pretty good run club. That's not particularly close to where she lives, but it's very accessible by TTC. http://www.blacktoeru...

Re: Where are people buying discount shoes these days?
I'm late to the show here, but I've had success getting shoes thru eBay. I've purchased two pairs of shoes (Brooks Glycerins 9 & 10) from this seller, TONEDZONE with great success. The shoes are listed as used when sold, but they are hardly that. This seller gets shoes returned to the manufactu...

Re: Where are people buying discount shoes these days?
Thanks for the tips. We also have a RR warehouse outlet in the west end, so I might check there, too. It doesn't have to be online - I don't mind driving to stores in the greater GTA - I just don't want to pay more than $130 (tax included) for shoes! I'm fine with past years' models, too. Just saw ...

Re: Red Deer and Medicine Hat Trip Report
Is "porch" an American/Texan thing? Habs always calls it her deck. ;) I say, "front porch" and "back deck." Porch is probably a California thing. To me, a porch is covered (and sometimes enclosed) whereas a deck is not. ETA: porch (noun) 1. an exterior appendage ...

Re: Favourite Apps for running, health, etc?
I still use http://www.milermeter.com/ to map out routes ahead of time.
For food tracking I use the WW Mobile app, but you have to be a member to use that.
I also use Strava and Garmin Connect.

Congrats, friend! You really did nail that race. I hope you're as proud of yourself as we all are of you for being so dedicated in your training and getting it done on race day. Sucks about the course being long, though.

Tailwind Thursday
Today was my first bike to work in more than 2 weeks. Some of that was because of weather, but some was due to back pain. My back is still sore, but it's not keeping me from my daily activities. The tail wind help me break 17 minutes for my commute. I got two silly red lights that slowed me down. Si...

Re: Meandering Monday
I had a lovely ride to work this morning (though my back is quite sore today). After my ride home, I'll switch bikes and ride over to the indoor cycling studio for a computrainer workout. Had to cancel my computrainer workout as my back has seized up on me. :( Will make for an interesting ride home...
