Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Just for the record, I have fallen multiple times while running and Jes was nowhere nearby :D Congrats Jes on registering for the marathon. Ditto! Tweaked my shoulder pretty good once too...ouch! Couldn't lift my arm for a couple of days! Already starting to get lower back/hip pain :( I bought a co...

Best meal of the summer?

DH and I always play this game near the end of the summer. We think back to the 'best meal of the summer'. DH actually thinks I may have come up with the 'best meal of the summer' last night with a simple five ingredient meal. Heirloom tomatoes (variety) chopped Garlic Olive oil Roast on 200 for a l...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Ok, day 2 of concussion is not fun. I have a crazy headache still, and DH went back to work today (he took a sick day yesterday to help me with the kids and since I was not supposed to be alone yesterday). :( if you are worried that you have a concussion and still have a headache I would go to the ...

Just have to say how impressed I am with all the running and procreating (haha!) going on here! Now for a 'too klutzy for my own good" moment: I have a concussion from... get this... feeding the baby at night! I went to lie down after feeding her and totally hit my head (hard!) on the nig...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Hip hip hooray for all the Hot Racing Mamas! Wow, wow, wow. And for the Hot Race-Ready Mamas (SHG, AndyM, who else did I miss?) cranking out the mega-mileage. As for the #2 peer pressure, I actually sort of felt the opposite. Maybe this is just the peculiar bias of academia, but by in large I've be...

But, humans are the only species that drinks other species' milk, and the only species that has adults drinking milk. :? see I don't really get that argument. Don't drink milk if you don't want but I find that a thin excuse. Basically so? Some research has shown that adults drinking milk may have h...

by the way- if I hear "I want daddy to..." (instead of mommy) one more time in my house I am going to lose it. Actually, I already lost it, but that is allowing me time to myself while the kids and ever-fabulous-do-no-wrong daddy are at the park. See, you're catching on. It's not an insul...

Morning! I actually feel like I could run today (no knee or hip pain). Today is DHs soccer night so I don't actually get to run though. :( I am going to walk to the Dr's for Miss M's 4 month check-up, and hope I don't get thunderstormed on for the walk home. I also hope Miss M decides to actually li...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

One running positive in the last week was that I was able to hold my goal half marathon pace for 12km. I didn't think I had it in my just yet and now I am leaning again towards racing a half in a couple of weeks. That is if I can get the "runs" sorted out. Regarding runs on the run (sorry...

All food is weird when you think about it too much. Drinking milk from another animal is weird. But I know you're also a locavore - is almond milk a better solution? Or sesame milk? I just asked my local health food store if they would stock hemp milk and they said they would give it a shot. So, that is next on the list to try. Coconut milk sounds yummy too, but I don't need the calories right now!

Re: Alternatives to Milk?

If you're not "using milk for nutrition" I guess it also depends on what your objection to cow's milk is. Canadian milk doesn't have growth hormone but you can also buy organic milk if you're worried about large-scale farming. If you don't want animal products at all, then those recommend...
