An oversimplification is weights for strength, intervals of fitness and long runs for health. I have a love hate relationship with long runs and given the "return" of 80/20 running method that suggests most of us are doing 20% of our runs too slow and 80% too fast, it gives me something to think about with regards to my running as opposed to "race" training. Long runs lower the resting heart rate and fat and I can and should do more of them, or at least do them slower then I have been. The weird thing is I had been thinking along those lines and basically saying I am going to run the maximize my health and to hell with race results but it may actually be beneficial to my race performance and thus reinforce a healthy choice.

80/20 method:
