Seems like it's always changing, so what is the current "best" non-white-sugar sweetener?
I want to reduce refined sugar from my diet but I like white sugar in my coffee (plain coffee is too overwhelming) and I like brown sugar in my oatmeal.

Re: Sweeteners
When you say "best", do you mean the one that tastes the best? Obviously, that will be based on personal preference.
FTR, I don't think that white sugar is any worse for you than any other kind of sugar. Sugar is sugar.

by "best" I mean "not (allegedly) going to cause me cancer or diabetes or other health problems"
what do the "clean eating" folks use for sweetener?
I've googled it but there is so much conflicting info.

Re: Sweeteners
so if all those are true I can just keep putting sugar in my coffee and oatmeal.

Yes, just use it moderately.

Sugar itself isn't the enemy; it's the quantity of sugar that can be. If you can avoid drinking sugar, that will be a big step.

Re: Sweeteners
A few teaspoons of sugar in your coffee (even if you have 2-4 coffees a day) isn't that much in the scheme of things. If you're trying to cut down on sugar, I'd avoid pop, juice (even 100% "all natural"), and other SSBs.

Re: Sweeteners
I don't normally drink pop and juice. Like I said, coffee is the only place (usually) that I'm drinking sugar.
Occasionally I have diet coke, and very rarely I will have regular coke. Most of the time it's milk, water, tea, and coffee.
I realize that it's not a lot in the grand scheme of things. I'm looking at ALL the areas in which I'm eating crap and attempting to clean it up.
